First reason, they work so nicely together. I'm not saying Jessie and James don't do that, it's just that James kinda gets on Jessie's nerves. We don't see Cassidy hitting Butch cause he doesn't get on her nerves. And they're equal. They both let the other have their fame. 'Cept for the fact that Cassidy talked a tee bit more in 'The Breeding Center Secret'.
Second reason, they share Pokemon. I guess they're not fortunate enough to have their own Pokemon so they take turns commanding their Raticate (Breeding Center Secret) and Drowzee (Pikachu Re-Volts). If they didn't care about the other, one of them would probably be selfish and not let the other control the Pokemon. Jessie and James also do this sometimes, too!
Butch and Cassidy may not act all Neoshippy but I'm sure they are. They can probably hide their feelings better than Jessie and James because they are older. (I think they're about 20-ish) Jessie and James are about 17 and aren't as mature so they can't hide their feelings. (not that I want them to hide their feelings) Jessie and James are mature enough not to blurt out their feelings but they can't help hugging each other. Butch and Cassidy, since they are older, are better at getting through tough situations without touching each other. Or maybe they're just not touchy people.
And what about 'Love Power'. I know, I know, it's 'We believe in love power, that's because we love power' but they could have come up with something else. Something that doesn't involve the word 'love'. Jessie and James also use the word 'love' in their motto...Now what's with all this use of the word? There's not one bit of love in the Japanese versions...
In The Breeding Center Secret, Butch sees a flash and Cassidy asks "What Butch, something wrong?" See, she DOES care. She also looks kinda worried when she was asking him that.
And look at the picture below. It kinda looks like Butch is ticked off because James is holding onto Cassidy's arm. Awww....poor little Butch. And remember later? Jessie was ticked off, too.
Okay, that's it, for now. Are you a Neoshipper yet?
