Seeds

Part 2
The next morning, it was the same routine as the day before. Ring, whine, poke, poke, scratch, yell, throw. Only, when Jessie went to get changed, no sooner had she opened the bathroom door, she screamed and ran back to the main room of the cabin where she hid behind James.
"What is it?" He asked. She nervously pointed at the bathroom door, which was slightly open. They both slowly approached the door, and carefully look inside. The bathtub was full of seeds, and 3 guesses who was asleep in it all.
"How did she manage to do that?" James wondered.
"For get that, how am I supposed to get ready with that little…freak sleeping in a tub full of seeds, James? She's some kind of chipmunk human…freak thing!" Jessie shouted, making Seeds twitch a little bit. Then, she stormed into the bathroom and turned on the shower but, to her dismay, Seeds had somehow rigged it to not rain water, but, sunflower seeds. Jessie just stood there for a second, dumbstruck, trying to figure out who liked seeds that much and how she got seeds into the plumbing. She smacked her forehead and said, "I'm going to the other bathroom…" And walked out. James stood there for a second, wondering how she did it. After a second of watching, though, he simply said, "That's just weird…" By time everyone was ready to head out for the day, Seeds was sitting in the living room, counting her seeds to herself and putting them in nice little piles to themselves. Sunflowers on her left, pumpkin seeds on her right. Jessie quickly checked the bathroom, and all the seeds were gone.
"…I don't even wanna know…" She said as she thought about how she got rid of them all. Somehow, when she got back to the living room, all the seeds were nicely put away in a little drawstring bag that Seeds carried around; again, one on the left, the other on the right. Seeds was kind of starting to bother Jessie without knowing it.
"Uh, James? Is the squirrel- I mean girl coming with us today?" She called without leaving eye contact with Seeds, who waved innocently.
"I don't care, if she wants to." He called back from another room. When he got to the living room, though, he said, "She might be useful for something. You never know. Remember how we thought Meowth would just be one more huge mouth to feed? He turned out at least relatively useful, right?"
"Uh…yeah…right…" She wasn't going to break eye contact with Seeds. Or at least, she would keep a very watchful eye on her. Seeds watched as James went outside and she followed him, like a puppy might follow its master. She got in the balloon with him, and latched onto his arm and nuzzled it again. He blushed a little. With his free hand, he waved for Jessie and Meowth to hurry up.

After maybe 15 minutes of being in the air, Seeds noticed a bright yellow speck on the ground. She pointed it out to James, who said it was probably Pikachu, so they went down to be sure. Sure enough, it was. Seeds watched as they dug the hole they hoped would trap Ash, leaving him helpless and ready to be robbed. At first, Seeds didn't know what was going on. Then, when she saw they were digging a hole, she smiled and offered to help.
"I don't know, Seeds. It has to be pretty deep. Deep enough to where they can't get back out again by themselves…" James said when she offered.
"That's okay!" She smiled "I grow my own stuff at home, so I'm used to digging holes. I have an entire field of sunflowers, and one of nothing but pumpkins. That's a lot of holes I had to dig, too. How deep do you need it?" She asked, still smiling innocently. James only looked at her for a second. Then, he turned to see what Jessie and Meowth thought of the idea. They only looked back at him.
"I'll let you help dig the hole, but as I'm sure you know by now, my friends are less than thrilled to have you around. We need it about 30 feet deep, at least… That's how the usual ones are, anyway." He explained. He looked back at the indentation that would be the hole soon enough for a second, but when he looked back to Seeds, she had already started to dig. James sighed and went to help. Every few minutes or so, Seeds would offer everyone a pumpkinseed. She was usually the only one who really wanted one. It was a hot day and no one could figure out how anyone could stand eating dry, salty seeds on a day like that. It was close to 90 degrees outside, yet she kept eating the salty pumpkinseeds...It was making them thirsty just watching her. They later found out just how right Seeds was about being an experienced digger. She had the entire hole dug in less than 20 minutes.

As they rested and marveled at the beautiful pit, Seeds saw Ash and Pikachu coming. She pointed them out, and they hid behind a tree, waiting for Ash to fall into the trap. He walked right over it, and didn't fall. If Seeds hadn't had the idea so quickly, Jessie probably would have bit her head off. Seeds stepped out into the dirt road just in front of the hole and got Ash's attention.
"Hey, you." She called to him.
"Do you want some seeds?" She asked. Ash took a step towards her.
"Not really, but thanks." He said. From the side of the road, Team Rocket watched in amazement at how easily Seeds had fooled Ash.
"Well, does your Pikachu maybe want some? I've got sunflower and pumpkin." She said "Which does it like better?" She asked, innocently smiling. Ash consulted his Pikachu, which decided on pumpkinseeds. It hopped off it's trainer's shoulder and ran at Seeds to get the seeds. Ash followed closely. Seeds bent down to give Pikachu the seeds, and as soon as Ash caught up with it…the hole still didn't trigger. Seeds knew something was wrong, so she pretended to stumble and drop the seeds closer to the center of the hole. Being the typical good guy, Ash retrieved the seeds to give back to her, but when he got near the bag of seeds, the hole fell through. Seeds was just quick enough to grab the bag of seeds before it fell with Ash. A few seconds later, there was a thud as they hit the bottom of the trap. From the side of it all, James looked at Jessie as if to say "I told you she'd be useful." She looked back at him and said, "well, lets go get that rat once and for all!" They came out of hiding, only to find that Seeds had Pikachu already. The rodent looked tired, and its cheeks only sparked a little, not enough to hurt anyone.
"What happened" Meowth wondered.
"Pikachu's power is electricity, right? And water conducts electricity, right? And salt dries water up, right?" Seeds smiled evily.
"So you gave it some seeds… and?" James asked.
"And, a pikachu's body is 99% water- one percent higher than a human's. If a Pikachu eats too much salt, it can't use its electrical powers because they use the water to make the electricity they battle with. Of course, what's saltier than pumpkinseeds?" She explained, winking at James, who (again) blushed.
"Well, I have to admit- it's better than anything I ever would have thought of, that's for sure." He said shyly. "But how did you know about a Pikachu's body being 99% water?" He asked. Seeds smiled and motioned for them to follow her. About 5 minutes down the road, they could see 2 fields. One was entirely orange. The other, yellow and black speckled. Seeds told them that these were her fields, and she whistled. From far away, something hopped up onto a pumpkin and looked in their direction, then came running to Seeds. It was a Pichu. She picked up the tiny mouse and scratched its head.
"This is Sparx." She explained. "He helps me to pick all the seeds I'll need to eat and grow more with." Sparx hopped down out of Seeds' arms and went over to Meowth and sniffed his head. Then, he waved his paws excitedly and gave Meowth a big hug.
"Pichu pichu!" He said, nuzzling Meowth's head affectionately.
"Hey!" Meowth protested. "Get dis ting offa me! I ain't no piece a cheese, get offa Me-owth!" He yelled as the force of Sparx' cuddling knocked him over.
"Aww, it likes you, Meowth!" Jessie said. Meowth glared at her.
"Sparx helped me find out about how eating pumpkin seeds isn't the best for an electric type. But it helped me catch Rain, my Marril. He makes sure everything stays watered. Speaking of which, where'd he go?" Seeds said, turning around, looking for Rain. Jessie took this opertunity to look at James, and she knew he knew what she had in mind.
"No way, Jessie. Not this time. She's really useful. And besides, she has a Pichu and a Marril we didn't know about, who's to say she doesn't have something stronger, like a Charizard or something?" He asked. She had suggested they steal some of her poke'mon.
"Exactly." She said simply. "Who's to say she doesn't? This is the opportunity we've been waiting for, James. All we have to do is throw her a bag of seeds and she'll be distracted completely." She said with an evil smile.
"But… she helped us get Pikachu…" James aid softly. "It just wouldn't be right to do that now…" Then, something came to him. When were they going to take Pikachu to the boss, anyway? Just then, Seeds came back with a nicely polished poke'ball and said that she would help them get back to Viridian now.
"Come on, Angel!" She said and tossed the shiny ball. A Kerlia appeared and looked around. Jessie nudged James and gave him an evil look. He looked at her like he didn't know what she meant. Sparx finally let Meowth up. Meowth gave the Pichu and evil look, and Sparx went to stand by Seeds and Angel.
"Okay, Angie. We need to get to Viridian city, as fast as you can get us there, okay?" The beautiful poke'mon nodded and within seconds, they were outside the gym. Seeds waited outside while her new friends went inside the building and came back out a few minutes later, grinning.
"Da boss musta paid us at least 50 cents a hair on pikachu's tail!" Meowth said, very happy with the result of the day's work.
"EACH!" Jessie and James said at the same time. Seeds smiled at them when they got back to her.
"So…" She said, sitting on the edge of a fountain. "What do we do now?" She asked. Jessie and James looked at each other as their smiles faded. They hadn't planned on bringing Seeds along with them forever…but they didn't know what she was up to. They sat down beside her and explained that though they were grateful for her help, they really didn't need her anymore. Seeds looked down out of sadness and disappointment as she cracked open a sunflower seed and ate it, trying not to let them see her disappointment. Again, Jessie and James looked at each other. This was one of the few times they would really admit to feeling bad about something. That's not to say that they never felt bad about things, it's just… when you're evil, you don't just go around telling people named Seeds when you feel bad about something. Jessie and Meowth didn't, at least. But as I'm sure you all know, James is a completely different story. A lot of people might consider him too sensitive to be evil. He sighed and gently patted Seeds' head.
"Sorry. It's not you." He said. Seeds looked up slightly as a tear fell. She reached up to James' hand on her head and gently brought it to the side of her face and held it there. Then, she slowly moved his hand up and down. She closed her eyes as another tear fell, but it was lightly brushed away a moment later.
"…Why?" She asked quietly. "Why do you have to leave me now?" She opened her eyes a little, but her vision was blurred anyway. James looked up and gave Jessie one of the most pitiful looks he had ever given her before. It was bad enough that he felt bad about only using poor Seeds to get Pikachu, but now he realized how much she liked him, and that made him feel even worse. Not to mention the fact that Seeds was crying over it and drying her tears with his hand. Even Jessie couldn't let this pitiful scene drag out any longer.
"Hey, Seeds." She said. Seeds looked up at her and sniffled then dried one last tear with James' hand again.
"Y-Yeah?" She said. Jessie thought for a minute.
"Do you, um…like ice cream?" She asked. Seeds stopped crying, but still kept James' hand where it was. He looked at Jessie too.
"Yeah…" Seeds said slowly. "Why?"
"Well…I was thinking…maybe…you could… come with us some more after all. I mean, come on. Who doesn't like sunflower seeds? There's a Broosters not far from here." She said. Seeds considered this for a minute, then smiled, and gently pressed James' hand to her face again. Once again, he blushed.
"Is he coming too?" Seeds asked, petting James' hand gently.
"Of course he's coming too." Seeds smiled and cuddled his hand some more. Then, she opened a bag in her pocket took out 2 pumpkinseeds. She cracked one of them open and ate it herself, but gave the other one to James.

On the way back to the cabin, Seeds was finishing her cookie dough ice cream with one hand while the other one held James' affectionately. He didn't get an ice cream, so every once in a while Seeds would offer some of hers. She tried maybe every 10 minutes or so, but eventually, she got tired of him not wanting any ice cream, so she offered a handful of pumpkinseeds to him.
"You're going to starve." Seeds said, holding the seeds out to him. He smiled reluctantly and took the seeds. He doubted he would ever be hungry as long as Seeds was around…She was always giving him seeds to eat… It was sweet, really. He looked down at the seeds she gave him and sighed.
"I wish food was always this easy to come by…" He said quietly.
"What?" Seeds asked. She heard him say something, but not the specific details. "Did you say you wished you always had food this easy?" Seeds was only trying to help, but if James said the wrong thing, he could very well end up with enough seeds to feed every bird in the world breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 months straight.
"…Um…" He said.
"Well, then, I have to stay with you!" Seeds exclaimed. "I can't let you starve yourself…", She said, softly nuzzling his arm again. "You're way too attractive for me to just let you waste away like that…" She said softly. Jessie nearly tripped over something when she heard that last one. She couldn't let Seeds know it, though… If Seeds knew that she liked James just as much as she did, maybe more, then she'd probably wake up one morning covered in bird seed while wild Pidgeys pecked her head in. But would James really let her do that? Then again… Jessie had a feeling that James was starting to fall for Seeds, too… but this was exactly what Seeds wanted… I'm going to say this like you don't already know, but she really liked James. They continued on their way back to the cabin when James tripped over Meowth, who was just standing there, staring into the woods, as if in a trance.
"What's up, cat?" Seeds asked, helping James back up and dusted him off gently. Meowth just stared.
"He's just being weird again…" Jessie said. Without averting his gaze, Meowth waved a paw and said,
"No. Dere's somtin' out dere, yous humans just can't see it, is all…" Seeds looked around James and where Meowth was staring. She suddenly went pale, as she saw it too. She stumbled, but she stumbled into James. She tried to make it seem like she was cuddling him again so he wouldn't catch onto what was really happening. When she looked again, Meowth was starting to go into the woods to get a better look at it. Seeds got even paler, if that was possible. She could see what it was, and she knew it saw her too. She was the reason it was there to begin with. She slowly stepped back behind James to act like she never saw it. She and Meowth were the only ones who noticed when it started to come closer. Meowth still didn't move, but he watched it leave the woods and came to Seeds. Meowth followed it, and Jessie and James looked to where they assumed it was. Seeds started to circle James, as if she thought that Jasmine would never see her there. A voice out of nowhere said, "I know you're there, Seeds…" She said. Seeds blushed a little and came out of hiding. Suddenly, a girl appeared exactly where Meowth was looking.
"Um… is there…something you want to explain here, Seeds?" Jessie asked nervously.
