Here's to the Night~2
By: Cherry Coke

She twirled in her dress, just like that day she had when she had been late for school. She sighed took a long look in the mirror, and left her room.

She waited outside on her porch for Samantha, she was picking her up. Jessie got goosebumps on the though that she had changed. She crossed her fingers that she hadn't.

When she arrived she practically ran out of the car, "Jessie!" She cried, her voice sounded just the way Jessie knew it would.

They ran over and hugged each other. "Long time no see, eh?" She whispered in her ear. Jessie shrugged,

"Yeah, but you still look the same. It so great to see you!" They both smiled and hugged each other again.

"We'll we better get going or we'll be late." Jessie nodded and went into the car, as well as Samantha.

After about 10 minutes of driving Samantha decided to cook up a conversation," Ya still like James?"

"I guess, I haven't seen him in a long time, other wise, yeah!" A frown seemed to appeared on Samantha's face.

"Oh........"

"Why, what's wrong?"

"Well, ER- ya see, I was just talking to him the other day, and well ER- he kinda, has a significant ER- other." Jessie's heart practically stop beating.

"Who?"

"Well, ER- Princess scum."

"Katie? No you don't mean-"

"Yep, Katie. The one and only."

"That fat slob? I mean c'mon, she's like 90 times the size of him!"

"Well, it absolutely true, I saw them kiss." Samantha exclaimed.

"KISS?! HOW COULD HE! HE ALWAYS USED TO TELL ME IF WOULD SAVE THE LAST, AND BEST KISS FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEE! CRAP! HOW COULD HE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Hey, hey calm down. I am sure you can win his love again, you got beauty inside and out." Samantha assured.

"I know but-"

"But nothing! Your gonna march right up to him and say 'James, remember me? Jessie, I love you.'"

"You think that's so easy? Why don't you do it?"

"Because I am not an idiot, I let the boys make the first move."

"Then how come I have to do it?" Jessie asked.

"I wanna see the look on his face, and Katie's."

"Forget it, I am not doing anything. You'll see, he will ask me."

"Uh huh, and one day God will come over to my house for a meatball." Samantha looked doubtful. She didn't feel like telling Jessie, it was totally hopeless.

"Look, we are here!". Samantha parked besides a sidewalk, in front of their old friend's house. They both opened their door, got out, and shut them again. Jessie's palms began to feel sweaty as they walked up the porch to ring the doorbell. A medium weighted, tall boy answered the door. He had light brown hair, blue eyes, and freckles.

"Samantha! Jessie! Is so great to see you both, please come in!" Samantha, and Jessie did as they where told.

"So Kev," Samantha flirted. "Haven't you become cuter."

He blushed. "Thanks, anyway do you want something, can I get you a drink?"

"No thanks," She turned to Jessie. "Jess?" She shyly shook her head.

"Okay then, everyone is out back. Let's go." He lead them to the back of his house. Jessie eagerly glanced around to see so many people she remembered. She couldn't decide who to talk to first. She watched Samantha leave , of course, to talk to Isabelle, her best friend. Jessie was always jealous of her. But she decided to make her way over to James.

She gently tapped him on the shoulder, "Hi James." He turned around.

"Jessie! It's so great to see you!" They hugged each other. The girl James was talking to glared at them.

"James, what they hell are you doing with that other girl?"

The evil voice rang in Jessie's ear. Without a doubt it was- Katie. The fattest, meanest, ugliest girl in the world. Jessie stared at her. Her hair was a mess, her dress was to tight, her thighs covered her knees, and her pimples glared red. The next thing she knew, James had dropped her to the ground.

"Sorry, Katie dear. I was just saying hi to Jess, you remember her right?"

"Unfortunately yes, I do. Now come along honey, we have some business to take care of." James let go of Jessie and she fell to the ground. She watched him walk away with Katie. She sighed in failure. She got up again and followed him.

"James, do you want a drink?". She asked.

"Well, ER- sure."

"You too, Kate?" She nodded.

Jessie walked over to the refreshment table and poured a drink, for James, and Katie. She strutted back over to James, and sweetly handed him his drink. Jessie reached out her hand to Kate, and then pretended to 'spill' the drink. It splattered all over her white dress.

"AHHHHHH!" She exploded, "LOOK WHAT YOU DID YOU DAMN FREAK! NOW EVERYONE CAN SEE THROUGH MY DRESS!" Kevin walked back outside to all the hollering.

"We, Kate, no one wants to see that!"

Katie turned bright red. "C'MON JAMES, LET'S GO HOME!"

"I want to stay here!" He whined.

"Fine, I'LL LEAVE AND YOU CAN STAY HERE WITH YOUR BITCHY FRIENDS!"

James blushed as he watched her storm away. Jessie smiled to herself. The party continued on, dancing, talking, and eating. All the same groups stayed together-as they had at recess. Jessie had left though, all here childhood times behind, At the early age of ten, she had no choice. The home she lived was horrible. Her mother had died-and her father was psycho. Her sister and her ran away so he couldn't rape them. She was okay now though, back where she belonged, with her friends. She talked with Bailey, Christine, Samantha, Isabelle, Courtney, Vivian, Marc, Kevin, Sean, Billy, Jacob, James, and Kristen.

"Like, when did you like, start dating Katie anyway?" Isabelle asked.

"While ago, maybe two months." Jacob smirked,

"Whatever, more like two years!"

"Yeah!" Marc and Kevin agreed. Chris ran over to them and interrupted the conversation.

"Kev, I didn't know you ordered strippers!" He turned pale.

"I didn't!"

"Well, I think Keith, Jason, and Brandon, are doing the Macarina and taking their clothes off!" All the boys fell on the floor laughing. Everyone huddled around Keith, Jason, and Brandon as they did their performance. It lasted nearly two hours. Then it was dancing, dancing, dancing.

James drove Jessie home. Since she was simply too tried to barely walk. "Would you like to come in for a cup of tea?"

He shrugged. "Sure."

She had a tiny home. She had no T.V, because she did not like them. She had many candles and fruits about. She settled the tea kettle on the stove, and heated it. Her and James sat down and talked. "You have very pretty eye-home. Yeah a lovely ER- home. Yeah."

"Thank you, would you like to sit on the porch? It's cooler out there anyway. I don't have air conditioning."

He nodded and followed her out. They both gazed up at the blanket of stars, protecting them. It seemed never ending-and Jessie liked it that way. She looked at James, who seemed to have that gazing away look. She figured he was thinking about Katie.

"Do you think, Maybe someone could love me?". There was a moments paused. Jessie decided he was thinking negative. She stared at the dusty ground, as a tear drop skidded down her damp cheek. She felt James put his arm around her.

"Do I think? I KNOW. I do."

Jessie's face grew a smile. "Really?"

"Yep."

"Guess what? I do too!"

James rose an eyebrow, "Youuuuu, love yourself?"

"No! You, I love you!"

James blushed, and kissed her gently on the cheek. Jessie kissed him back on the lips.

"I might not have saved the first kiss for you-but I sure did save the best!" Jessie smiled, as their lips embraced again. She heard the tea kettle go off.

As she sat down James and Jessie's cups met,

"Here's to friends forever."

Jessie smiled and thought, 'No, here's to the night.'
