Ms. Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born on May 16, 1966 in Gary, IN to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jackson. Janet is the baby of nine children. She has six brothers and two sisters--Michael, Tito, Jermaine, Jackie, Randy, Marlon, La Toya, and Rebbie. That have all at one point been out there in the industry. Janet started her career by participating in the families variety show. Later she move on to work on such shows as Good Times, Different Strokes, and Fame. From there she moved into the music industry. She came out with Janet Jackson in 1982 and then Dream Street in 1984. These two albums did not hit the charts like everyone would have wanted them to. |
![]() A year or so passed before Janet got together with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to work on her third album Control. Control did it...Control launced Janet's musical career to a level that couldn't be touched. In 1989, she released Rythmn Nation 1814. It was after the release of this album she decided to go on tour. Janet toured all over the globe for about a year and a half. Her final A&M project, prior to recording with Virgin records, was a 1992 duet with Luther Vandross, "The Best Things in Life Are Free", recorded for the soundtrack to the film Mo Money. In 1993, Janet made her own movie debut as the heroine (opposite rapper Tupac Shakur) of director/screenwriter John Singleton’s Poetic Justice, for which she received lukewarm reviews. That same year, her Virgin album, "janet", shot to the top of the pop and R&B charts. After this acclaimed release Janet went on tour again. She released a Design of a Decade in 1995. This album was a culmination of some of Janet's songs of her preceding albums, including two new songs-- 24 Play and Runaway. Also, in 1995, Janet and Michael teamed up for the single "Scream," which was supported by an elaborate, award-winning, space-age video that, upon completion, ranked as the most expensive music video ever made Two years went by before she came out with Velvet Rope. Velvet Rope has been the first album thus far that she shared herself in entirety to her fans. So, this became her most personal tour also.

Since the completion of Janet's latest album, she has collaborated with Blackstreet (Boyfriend/Girlfriend) and Busta Rhymes (What's It Gonna Be). Also, she has made appearances on talk shows such as Larry King Live, Oprah, Rosie O'Donnell...worked with Pepsi and did a commercial, which aired overseas.
Well guys, The Nutty Professor hit movie theatres on July 28, 2000 and it was the bomb. Janet did a very good job in this movie. There were several knee slapping clips. So, if you haven't seen yet...you should go. Also, check out Janet's single Doesn't Really Matter. It has three remixes of the song which are good dancing music. Also, look for the video on your local music channel. It's the bomb. And best of all Bucky choregraphed the video!!! In 2001, All For You was released which largely continued the sensual tone of Janet. The title track was issued as the album's first single and quickly topped the charts, followed by another sizable hit in "Someone to Call My Lover." While Janet spent much of 2001 and 2002 on her All For You tour, she also found time for some guest appearances, most notably with Beenie Man on his Tropical Storm LP and Justin Timberlake on Justified, his solo debut. By 2003, she was back in the studio, working once again with Jam and Lewis on tracks for a new album; additional producers included Dallas Austin and Kayne West. On March 26, 2004 Damita Jo was released
