Soft Plastics Soft plastic baits include things like plastic worms, swirl tails and grubs. They tend to feet very lifelike to a fish, so fish hang onto them longer than hair, wood, hard plastic or lead. In general, soft plastics are intended to be fished slowly. Plastic worms are traditional bass-catchers, and plastic tails on jigs can sometimes be as productive as live bait. If you are fishing where live bait isn't available, soft plastics can be the next best thing.
