Mary Lee Damutz ran Varsity Track for 4 years and played Varsity Field Hockey for 3 years. As a sophomore she qualified for the National Junior Olympics in the 880. From that race Mary Lee was ranked 11th in the nation for females born in 1961. She also won the indoor state Championship in the 880 her senior year. Mary Lee was named to the All County Team all four years she ran track. During her senior year she won female Athlete of the Year.

After high school Mary Lee attended Brown University. While at Brown she ran cross-country and track. During her senior year she was co-captain of the track team

In 1988 Amy and her husband, Gary, moved to Italy where they still presently live. Amy teaches English and is a journalist for the magazine Tuscany. She and Gary have two daughters ages 8 and 5, and an infant son born 8-16-98.
