Cheese and Onion Pinwheels

Ingredients:

1 loaf (1 pound) frozen white bread dough, thawed
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 large onion, finely chopped
3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
paprika (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 200°F. Lightly grease a cookie sheet with non-stick spray. In a medium skillet, melt butter and saute onion until clear and tender. Remove from heat.
roll out dough On a lightly floured surface using a lightly floured rolling pin, roll dough into a 12 inch by 14 inch rectangle.
spread on onion and cheese then roll up Place sauted onions on top of dough leaving a 1 inch border at the top and bottom (the 12 inch sides). Cover the onions with the cheddar cheese. Starting on a 12 inch side, roll up the dough into a log and pinch to seal the end.
slice and bake With a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 rolls. Place the rolls, leaving room between them to expand, on the greased cookie sheet and turn OFF the oven. To prevent drying, spray the tops of the rolls with non-stick spray (and sprinkle with paprika if desired). Let the rolls rise in the warm oven until double in size, about 20 minutes. Then remove the rolls from the oven and preheat the oven to 350°F for 5 minutes. Bake the rolls for 15 minutes until they're golden brown. Serve warm. These can be reheated for 10 minutes at 250°F.
Approximately 123 calories and 4 grams of fat per roll.
