Cracked Pepper Knots

Ingredients:

1 loaf (1 pound) frozen white bread dough, thawed
1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper
2 tablespoons butter, melted
salt

Directions:

knead in the pepper Lightly grease baking sheets and preheat oven to 200°F. On a lightly floured surface, knead the cracked pepper and a pinch of salt into the bread dough. cut into strips Cut bread into ten equal pieces. On a lightly floured surface roll each piece into a 10 inch strand.
tie in knots Tie each strand loosely into a knot, tucking the ends underneath. Place the knots on the baking sheet leaving one inch between them. Baste them with half the melted butter. Turn OFF the oven and allow the rolls to rise in the warm oven for about 15 minutes, or until double in size. Remove the rolls from the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F for five minutes. Baste the rolls with the remaining butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown. Serve warm. These can be reheated in a 250°F oven for 10 minutes.
Approximately 123 calories and 3 grams of fat.
