(9) Tutor Session

The phone call came the next morning at nine. Chloe rose around eight after a restless night of sleep. She heard the phone ring, but didn’t answer. She sat on her bed waiting. Her mother’s voice carried up the stairs, “CHLOE!!! PHONE FOR YOU!” Chloe felt a sudden nervous rush. She took a deep breath and picked up her phone. When she heard Nancy hang up, she spoke, “Hello?” To her surprise, it was a woman at the other end of the line. “Is this Chloe Lane?”

“Yes…Who is this?” Chloe asked in a confused tone.

“Hi Chloe. I’m Jackie Wells, Jason’s mother,” the pleasant voice responded.

Chloe felt herself blushing, “Oh, hi Mrs. Wells.”

“Jason tells me that you’d be willing to tutor him in Trigonometry.”

Chloe nodded absentmindedly, “Yes. He asked me if I could do it this weekend.”

“I know. I’ve been laying the pressure on him. So is today ok for you?”

“Sure, it’s fine with me.”

“Great Chloe. Actually, he’s still asleep right now. I’m going to wake him up soon. I just wanted to call ahead. He’s not exactly full of initiative. If I left it up to him, I think he’d blow it off.”

I doubt it, thought Chloe.

“I hear you,” Chloe agreed pleasantly.

“All right then. Do you have transportation? If not, I’d be willing to come and get you.”

She was so sweet. “Oh, I’m fine. I’ll borrow my mom’s car. Thanks anyway.”

“Great. Is an hour or so ok?”

“That’s fine. I’ll be there at ten.”

“Thanks for doing this Chloe. Jason says you’re the best person for this.”

Chloe cracked a smile and blushed. “I’ll see you a little bit.”

“Bye Chloe.”

“Bye Mrs. Wells.”

Chloe stared at the phone after she hung up. This was no joke. He really did want to be tutored.

                             ****************************************************************

She was beautiful. Slender, blond, and very attractive. And obviously Jason’s mother. She beamed from the front door and surprised her with a friendly hug. Chloe could smell her perfume as she withdrew from her embrace. She stared at the tall woman in admiration as she led her through the house. It was ten in the morning and she was still walking around in her robe.

Jason and his brother Matt were in the kitchen sitting at the nook in their shorts. “Good morning Chloe,” they chimed in unison. Jason smiled at her. Chloe fidgeted with her backpack and turned to Mrs. Wells. “Sorry Chloe. We must be making an awful first impression…”

“Awful…” Jason quipped.

Jackie glared at her son and cleared her throat, “We’re a pretty laid back bunch here on the weekends. A little too laid back if you ask me.”

Matt stood up, and to her astonishment, walked out the patio door in his shorts. It was freezing out!

Jackie tuned into her surprise, “He’s going to the Jacuzzi.”

“Oh,” Chloe replied.

Jason stood up and approached Chloe, “It’s kind of a Saturday morning ritual. All of us get in there.”

“If you’ll excuse me,” Jackie smiled, “I’ll leave you two to your school work.”

Jason watched his mother head out to the patio enviously. He looked at Chloe, “You want to go too?”

“Huh?”

“My sister’s about your size. You can borrow one of her swimsuits. She’s never here.”

“No, no.”

“Why not?”

“Because I’m here to tutor you. Not sit in a hot tub with you.”

“Come on Chloe. It will only be for a little bit. Fifteen minutes, tops.”

“Jason…”

“Her room is right up the stairs.”

Chloe followed him, “Jason, I don’t want to sit on a hot tub.”

Jason rummaged through his sister’s drawer until he found two different swimsuits. He held them up, the first one a bikini, the other a one piece.

“Forget it.”

He handed her the bikini and threw the one-piece on the bed. “I’ll get you a towel.”

“Jason!”

“I’ll leave it outside the door. Just come out there when you’re ready.”

Unbelievable! To her own surprise, Chloe found herself disrobing. She pulled on the one piece and wrapped herself in the towel Jason left outside the door. She went downstairs and to join the others.

Greeted by cats calls and whistles at that. Jackie put a stop to that. “Leave the poor girl alone. Stop being so perverted! You’re just like your father!”

Chloe paused, now unsure of her actions. Bug the freezing cold deck below feet gave her a jump start. She walked up to the Jacuzzi and sat her back pack down. Jason and Matt sat across from each other. Jackie sat on top with her legs dangling in the water. The steam from the Jacuzzi was thick in the cool October air. Coupled with Jason’s seductive smile and grin. It was like some scene out of a movie. Chloe let out a small giggle.

She took off her towel and climbed onto the tub next to Jackie. Jackie shook her head, “Oh great, I see Angie’s swimsuit fits you. I told him 15 minutes only. I can’t believe he did this.”

“It’s ok,” Chloe smiled as she pulled her hair up into a loose bun. She slipped into hot water, sitting directly across from Jason. She noticed his rather flushed expression. Was it the hot water or something else? Either way, it amused her. She gave Matt a friendly smile.

Matt looked up at his mother. “She’s real pretty huh? Perfect for you know what…” Chloe’s face fell, alarmed by his suggestion. She looked up at Jackie, who gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “I’m sorry. I don’t know if Jason told you already. I run a modeling agency in Salem.”

Chloe offered a shy nod, “No, I didn’t know that.”

“He’s right though.”

“About what?”

“Matt’s got a good eye. You should consider modeling.”

Chloe blushed and looked over to Jason, “I don’t think so. That stuff doesn’t really interest me.”

“Why not? You’re a very beautiful girl. You’ve got the height, the figure. You have the most gorgeous eyes and hair.”

By now, Chloe was humiliated. She felt a foot nudging her. Jason splashed the water and winked at her. She nudged his foot back. He let out a small laugh and tried to blow if off by rubbing his face with both hands. Jackie continued her sales pitch, “You really should consider it. Hell, I’d give a straight referral to my parent agency in Chicago. You’re just what they’re looking for.”

Chloe sunk deeper into the Jacuzzi. Soon she felt Jason’s thigh touching her own. Chloe gulped and backed away quickly. She let out a small, uncontrollable whimper when she felt him grabbing her ankle under the water. She managed to fake attentive listening to Jackie as she reached down innocently to dig her fingernails into Jason’s calf. Jason bit his lip to stifle a shout.

He grabbed her hand under the water. Chloe let a small gasp of surprise. Luckily, Jackie and Matt didn’t catch it. They were in the midst of a conversation. Chloe tried to pull he hand away. Jason laced his fingers into hers. He freed his middle finger to stroke the palm of her hand- sexual innuendo. Chloe’s blood pressure rose so quickly she felt light-headed.

She couldn’t believe her ears when he so nonchalantly said, “My mom is an agent for Janice Lauren…”

Chloe froze in a mixture of shock. The nerve of this guy to bring up HER name as he stroked her palm suggestively below bubbling waters…With varying rhythm... Causing her eyelids to flutter. This was utterly ridiculous. Barely able to hear with her heart pounding in her ears.

“Yes my darling. She has a lot of heart… a little rough around the edges personality wise. But a good kid for the most part…”

(Done stroking. Clenching her hand to simulate the obvious…orgasm)

“What do you mean rough around the edges?” he asked defensively.

(now releasing her hand)

“Oh don’t start this right now Jason. You know what I mean. She’s a pretty girl. But Chloe! Chloe has a lot of potential. Didn’t you say she can sing too? She’s multi-talented. Even more marketable.” Jackie relayed in an formal, business-like tone as she climbed out of the Jacuzzi. She wrapped herself in her robe.

Chloe stared straight ahead with her hand outstretched. Ahhhhhhh.

The whistle from Jason startled her. “Hmmm?” she managed. She looked up to Jackie and smiled. “I’ll think about it.”

Yeah right.

And there she was, out of the blue, the devil herself. Standing in the patio doorway, awestruck at the image before her.

“What the hell is this SHIT?” Jan implored.

Chloe blinked as Jason stood up, water splashing… Rushing to explain. Chloe was too weakened to care about the arguing trio before her. Jan TRYING her hardest to maintain her cool in front of her “boss.” Failing miserably though. Jackie calm and collect, shooing her away firmly… Jason following her into the house.

Tutor this, tutor that.

Jackie turned to Chloe, “Don’t worry about her. She’ll just have to wait until Jason is finished.”

Chloe nodded, “Of course Mrs. Wells.” She looked at the other gorgeous offspring, Matt. He gave her a familiar smirk, “You should come over more often. You always make things more interesting around here.”

Chloe disregarded his comment and climbed out of the hot tub. She wrapped herself in her towel and grabbed her backpack. She walked inside and found Jan and Jason in the hallway hissing. Jan glared at her as she walked by. Just to piss her off even more, Chloe ignored her and looked at Jason, “You don’t mind if I change in your room do you?”

Oh! Did we strike a chord among the lovebirds? Apparently so…

Chloe shut the door behind her and shook her head. Chloe, you are bad! How did you get to be so bad?

Chloe sat on his bed and loosened her hair. She didn’t know she had it in her. It was quite scary actually. But Jan had that kind of effect…

                                   **********************************************

Within a minute, Jason joined her in his room. He stood with his hands on his hips shaking his head with amazement. “So was it good for you too?”

Chloe sat up, appalled that he would turn it around in his favor. “Excuse me. Did you just say something?”

“Never mind. You’re a trip, you know that?”

“I’m a trip?”

“Yeah.”

“You’re an idiot.”

Jason sat down on the bed next to her. He looked away and asked softly “Why do you always act so…”

“So what?” Chloe asked defensively.

“Like you’re above everything. Or like you don’t care what anyone says or does?”

“Should I?” she replied with a hint of dark sarcasm.

Jason was taken back by her tone, “Shit, I guess not.”

Chloe leaned back onto her elbows, “What do you expect me to do? Just lie down in complete surrender?”

“What are you talking about?”

Chloe rolled her eyes and looked away, “Let’s see Jason, how about my first nine months in Salem? Notably, Salem High.”

“Do you always live in the past?”

“That is the most insensitive thing I’ve ever heard. Is that how you deal with things? By blowing it off, especially if YOU’RE the one that’s guilty?”

“Chloe, I told you I’m sorry. I don’t treat you like shit any more and you know it. What more do you want me to do? I’m trying to be nice to you, but you’re not giving me a chance. I didn’t mean to be ‘insensitive.’ I just don’t think it seems healthy to dwell on things you can’t control.”

Chloe felt chastened by his last remark. Chloe stood up and began to pace. She crossed her arms, “I don’t dwell.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Just drop it” she replied firmly.

Jason lay backward onto his bed. He decided to leave it alone. Normally he would argue his point until the other side surrendered. But Chloe was different. She obviously had unresolved issues. She was so unlike Jan. Her cool demeanor was the polar opposite of Jan’s constant dramatic outpour. Chloe had a chip on her shoulder, but nothing more. At least from what he had seen.

He sat up and said nothing. Chloe was leaning against his dresser. She was in her own little world, staring at the floor. Jason got off his bed and approached her, standing close. Her eyes drifted slowly upward, taking in the view in front of her. She met his eyes briefly then glanced away shyly. Jason smiled, amused by her sudden change in behavior. “Hi Chloe.”

She met his eyes again, now confident. “Can you please give me a minute to get dressed? I’d like to be alone, if you don’t mind.”

Jason blushed, “A naked woman in my room?”

Chloe smirked, “I’m sure it isn’t the first time,” she retorted, obviously referring to his Janice Lauren.

“You’re right. I’ll leave you alone. You can even use my shower if you want to wash the chlorine off.”

“That’s very thoughtful of you.”

“Be sure to smile for the hidden camera,” he uttered as he closed the door behind him.

Chloe’s gaped at his last remark. She grabbed her clothes off his bed and looked around suspiciously.  Now he had to go and make her paranoid. She was confused enough already. She entered the bathroom and showered quickly. She eyed the showerhead and vanity mirror nervously. First the Jacuzzi, now this. What a jerk!

                                  *************************************************

Afterwards, Chloe entered the hallway. Jason stood grinning, also freshly showered and changed. “Did you give me a good show?”

Chloe leaned against the wall seductively, unconscious of her body language. She fired him a dirty look.

Fueling her frustration even more, he added, “I don’t think I can study now that I know you were naked in my room. And that you showered in my bathroom.”

She pushed past him, “I’m leaving.”

“Chloe don’t leave. I’m just playing with you.”

“I’m really not up for your games.”

“I’m not playing games with you Chloe! Fuck. Don’t tell me you really believed me when I said I had a hidden camera.”

Chloe turned to face him, “Do I look that gullible Jason?”

He shrugged, “I don’t know. You’re pretty upset.”

“You are so twisted!”

“Are you going to tutor me or not? My mom just chased my girlfriend off because of YOU.”

“I know what your mom wants. But what about you?”

“What about me?”

“Are you going to take this seriously?”

“What, our foreplay?”

Chloe stormed down the stairs furiously. Jason followed after her. Chloe ignored him and went straight to his mother. “I’m sorry Mrs. Wells, but this isn’t…” Jason placed his hand over her mouth and turned her away. Mrs. Wells, who was on the phone, was appalled by her son’s actions. “JASON MICHAEL! Get your hands off her!” Chloe broke away from Jason and glared at him, chest heaving. Jason’s mother excused herself politely from the other person on the line. She hung up the phone. “What is going on?”

“Nothing!” Jason yelled desperately.

Jackie turned to Chloe, “Chloe, what’s the problem? What did he do?”

Chloe looked at Jason. His eyes begged for forgiveness. She held her stare for awhile before answering.

“I just don’t think today is a good day for Jason,” she lied.

Jackie turned to her son, “Are you sure it isn’t more than that? Because Jason and I have already discussed this. He’s not leaving this house until he has the last five chapters fully comprehended. He already understands that,” she said through gritted teeth.

Jason sat in the stool next to her and waited for Chloe’s next move. They were interrupted by the entrance of Jason’s father. Chloe turned around to look at the stranger. He was tall, dark, and handsome. Matt was the spitting image of him. He appeared flushed from an apparent workout. He wore sweat shorts and a Stanford alumni sweatshirt. He greeted Chloe with a nod and headed straight to the refrigerator to pour a glass of water. Chloe eyed him with interest, her encounter with Jason quickly forgotten. All of them, such beautiful people.

He gulped his drink quickly and washed his hands. He walked up to Chloe and offered his hand politely and smiling, “Hi, I’m Michael Wells.” Jason’s mother stood up, “Honey, this is Chloe Lane. She’s Jason’s Trigonometry tutor.” Chloe blushed and met eyes with Jason. She was trapped for sure. But to her surprise, she didn’t mind. Being around his intriguing family was enough reason for her to stay. Michael glanced back and forth between his son and his beautiful tutor. “Behave yourself Jason… Chloe, it’s nice to meet you. Don’t pay any attention to him. Unfortunately, he inherited my charm. At least that’s what his mother says.” Chloe gave a small laugh as he walked off with wife in tow.

Jason sat down at the table. “You ready?” Chloe slid into the seat next to him. Her mind raced as she pulled her trig book and notes out of her backpack.

After all the events in the past forty-five minutes, she still had to remind herself why she was there. A simple tutor session. Simple…
