The New Regal Baby Cogie Domingo

The local movie scene is set to meet up with an exciting new face in the young, up and coming Regal Baby, Cogie Domingo. Regal mogul Lily Monteverde's newest fair-haired boy who's set to be launched in a major screen debut via the much-awaited family drama pic, ''Yakapin Mo Ang Umaga.'' The film topbills Cogie opposite drama stalwarts Christopher de Leon and Lorna Tolentino.

It will be recalled that the local movie scene last saw Mother Lily launch her last set of Regal Babies in the mid80s which saw the rise of now major stars Aiko Melendez, Carmina Villarroel, Ruffa Gutierrez and Zoren Legaspi. Regal welcomes the brand new millennium with an exciting new chapter as it launches the career of new teen actor Cogie Domingo via the Jose-Javier Reyes-megged “Yakapin Mo Ang Umaga.”

“Regal is back to its star-making ways,” says Mother Lily at the launch held at her newly-opened Cafe Valencia, a wink away from her famed Regal studios in Quezon City, and right next to where her Mother’s School of Child Development stands. “With Cogie Domingo, we begin a new and exciting chapter for the new millennium. Everybody should watch out for Cogie. A very talented young man, good-looking and with great potential.”

As it has always been in the country’ biggest and leading film outfit, Cogie Domingo’s launch is a major event seen to kick off a massive effort to introduce the new teen actor via a worthwhile major film, “Yakapin Mo Ang Umaga” which has won the backing and endorsement of Sen. Ernesto Herrera and the Citizen’s Drug Watch. Cogie’s Cafe Valencia launch coincides with the actor’s 15th birthday, making the event an even bigger and exciting one with the colleagues and members of the entertainment press just as excited.

Also with Cogie Domingo, Lorna Tolentino and Christopher de Leon in the soon to be released “Yakapin Mo Ang Umaga” are respected drama performers Nida Blanca and Gina Alajar. The film opens in Metro Manila theaters on Sept. 27.
