Fire Brigades become compulsory |

The Auxiliary Fire Service is formed |
1947 |
The Fire Services Act is passed and the national organisation is passed to back to Local Authorities. |
1974 |
Following a Local Government re-organisation, the entire country reforms its Fire service administration policy. Western Area Fire Brigade, South Western Area Fire Brigade and many smaller Brigades are amalgamated to form Strathclyde Fire Service. |
This is by no means a comprehensive history of the Fire Brigade but merely a glimpse into this heroic service.
