1. Have you been working on anything lately, besides "All My Children"? To tell you the truth, AMC has been keeping me quite busy. But I have had time to work on a couple of things. The first is an independent film called "Semmelweis" that was produced by my brother, Sam. In it I play a young mother who gives birth, becomes close with a Hungarian doctor (Dr. Semmelweis) and then dies of the mysterious and painful "Child-bed Fever." It takes place in the early 1800s. I worked on it for a few weeks while taping AMC. It shot late at night to accomodate my schedule and it was a strange dichotomy to work in a glamorous soap opera by day and then this hyper-realistic film at night, in which I wore this hiddeous makeup to make me look sick and pregnant.
Right now I am in the early pre-production stages of another independent film. Otherwise I have been readjusting to living in New York, making new friends, and visiting all my friends at school from time to time. It also takes a lot of my time to learn all those lines everyday. 2. How are your relations with the other cast members? Anyone that you are
closest with? The members of the AMC cast are some of the greatest people I have ever met. I have been learning so much from them, and they have been so welcoming to me. I really feel like we are a family. But I am closest with Rebecca Budig (who plays Greenlee). She is such a sweetheart, and one of the coolest and most together people I know. We hang out a lot.
3. What do you admire most about your character, Bianca? I admire her honesty, her excellent judgement, and how loyal she is to the people she cares about. She is so full of love, and she does everything she can to protect her friends and loved ones. She sees the decency in the people around her and can see through their facades to the humanity inside. She is also a very smart cookie. 4. What has been the most positive aspect of playing a gay character? I have been overwhelmed by the positive response I have gotten from the storyline. I think people recognize the honesty in the way it has been written, and I really believe that we are helping to raise awareness and tolerance. Most importantly, we are reaching out to gay teens who may feel alone or lost, and sending the message that they are not alone.
5. When do you think you will be going back to Harvard? I will finish my degree -- eventually. I am in no rush and Harvard will be there for me when I am ready, fortunately. It is extremely important to me to go back, but in the meantime AMC was an oportunity that I could not pass up. And I am so glad that I made the choice I did, because I love what I am doing now and I am learning and growing from my experiences with the show.
6. Will you be doing any upcoming events or signings? Hmmm. Nothing planned at this time. But you can count on me to be around. I love participating in the events.
7. What do you do on your spare time?
I love going to movies and shows, visiting friends and family, and letting loose on weekends: going out on the town! I keep pretty busy.
