CLP Powers Badminton in Tel Aviv Badminton players Garry Wong and Jeffrey Zee recently flew back from Tel Aviv, Israel, with four trophies in their suitcases. Representing the Hong Kong SAR at the 1999 Badminton for the Disabled European Open Championship, Garry and Jeffrey made an almost perfect clean sweep in the men's singles and doubles categories. Well done, guys! "The trophies are not only a recognition of our own efforts but we hope they are also an encouragement to all disabled athletes in Hong Kong," said Garry. Jeffrey agreed, but added: "Financial resources for Hong Kong disabled athletes to participate in overseas competitions have never been sufficient. We'd like to thank CLP for giving us the chance to compete in the international arena." The 1999 Badminton for the Disabled European Open championship attracted 80 athletes from eleven countries. Both Garry and Jeffrey's trips to Israel were fully sponsored by CLP. Congrats and thanks to everyone concerned. |
