Overview |
Cheo is a kind of traditional folk theater that dated back almost eight hundred years ago. It is originated from mimes accompanied with folk songs and dances performed by peasants of the Red River Delta - the cradle of the national culture.
Cheo is a kind of dramatic festival. The stage is only a mat laid in the middle of the yard of the village's communal house. The spectators sit around the mat, creating a close relationship between actors and public.
Cheo is a theatrical form of tales , romances and mimes. The performer plays both the role of a character and a story teller in front of spectators.
