Mel's answers to questions What sort of boys do you like?

Physically, I like men with dark eyes. I'm not too keen on blondes and I definitely wouldn't go out with a redhead - I'm not into the Chris Evans look.

So who's your ultimate man?

Jamie Redknapp. He's gooooorgeous!

How do you flirt?

I'm really, really shy if I like someone, so I just look at them. I think someone can tell you like them by the way you look at them. It's all down to eye contact.

How do you know when a bloke fancies you?

You can just sense it, can't yer? Just in the way he looks at me and talks to me.

What would put you off a bloke?

I definitely don't like hairy backs. And I don't like it when the lads are dead cacky.

What would you do if he came on too strong?

I'd tell him straight away. And if he threatened to dump me, I'd say "Go on then, I'm better off without you." Even if you were going to go home and cry afterwards, you've got to be responsible; be strong.

What's the best thing about being a girl?

The best thing about being a girl nowadays is that you can do lads' stuff too, and that's cool.

How do you like to be snogged?

I like kissy-kissy snogs. I don't like to much tongue action or rapid head movement.

What's the toughest situation you have found yourself in?

The toughest situation for me was at a football match. It was West Ham versus Manchester United and I'm a Liverpool fan, but I had to stand on the Man Utd end. When they scored and everyone cheered it was really hard not to boo! I thought I'd get my head kicked in if I did!

Have you ever fallen out?

Yeah, but usually we argue over really silly things, and it always gets resolved because we are good mates. At the end of the day, we want the best for each other and the best out of each other. It's healthy to argue.

Did sudden success change you?

Because we've been all over the world and we've all got open minds - I'd say it's more growing than changing, because you see so many cultures. It's really exiting.

Do you like slushy movies?

There is a time and a place for romantic films, but I'd usually rather watch football. That's romantic, though, because there is so much passion in football!

When was the last time you remembered crying, and why?

I cried a few days ago when I spoke to my mum on the phone. I've not see her for ages and she's not been very well, and she sounded really ill, so when I put the phone down I got upset.

Did you give your school mates a really hard time at school?

No, I got given a hard time at school, really.

Have you ever made a boy cry?

When I was 13 I had one of those silly boyfriends - you know, the ones you only go out with for two weeks? I only went out with him 'cause he kept pestering me to, but I got bored and finished with him and he cried.

Were you a teacher's nightmare at school?

I was really cheeky to my dance school teacher - I used to back answer a lot, but that was all. Did you get into fights?

One time this girl followed me home and beat me up because she fancied my boyfriend. I had to defend myself, so I hit her back! She was a big girl an' all, and I was only little, but I hurt her - in fact, she limped away! So she started this fight and got hurt and I still had the fella - yes!
