BUNNY CARE

I feed our buns an unlimited amount of Oxbow Oat and Timothy Hay; Faith gets a 1/4 cup of pellets a day and Natalie/Nate gets a 1/8 cup.
It's reccommended that buns get all the hay, alfalpha, pellets and water they want until they are six months old; after this eliminate the alfalpha
and cut the pellets down to 1/8 cup per 5lbs. At this time you can start adding fresh vegetables, but one at a time to be sure they are taking it
well; two cups a day of veggies is plenty. I primarily feed mine broccoli, romaine and mustard greens in the winter when the stores don't carry
much else that is out of season. In the summer, I grow several types of greens good for them. I also use Cat Country Cat Litter for their litter
boxes. For house bunnies it's reccommended that you mount uv lights (I use plant lights) near their homes to help them absorb the vitamin D
in their food. Without the proper amount of sunlight their back teeth can grow and deform over their tongues preventing them from eating. It's
also reccommended that you take your bunny to a qualified vet at least once a year to be sure everything is as it should. The following links will
provide you with more in depth information on what to feed and not feed, as well ideas for toys, cages, medical problems to be familiar with and
what questions to ask a vet before you allow them to touch your bunny.

TOYS

There is a whole of choices out there for bunny toys, just be sensible and think about the saftey and health issue if they should break one and
get cut or if they should eat part of it. My buns love cardboard boxes: I use beer boxes the six packs of bottles come in, they are the perfect
size for a tunnel behind my couch. Oatmeal barrels are wonderful for small bunnies; toilet paper and paper towel tubes give them hours of joy;
pine cones are good and something I always have around the house. I buy various key type rings from the infant department; cat cage balls;
bunny rings with carrots on them; the balls with shape holes. Pet stores also carry packages of wood pieces they can chew on. Flavored and
unflavored. However, the round ones, the color will come off and get on your bunny if they get wet, the square ones I have not seen this happen.
Bunnies get bored, so it's always a good idea to switch things out every couple weeks or so, depending on your bun.
