CRACK KORNER BEAT DEALAZ VOLUME 1

crack korner beat dealaz was formed in the spring of 2001. I lived at the corner of Main and Hastings across the alley from the Carnegie Centre with 5 other people in a huge space below the Roosevelt Hotel. My roomates learned how to make music on my computer and other people who also would stop by to use my computer, sometimes when i wasn't home, or have their raps recorded like my brother "no-b.s. allowed". After a month of being there i had quite a catalog of music on my hard drive. "CRACK KORNER BEAT DEALAZ VOLUME 1" was released as a means of survival. Jobless and not wanting to work for the crackheads who hung around right outside our front door, me and rookie hit the streets selling our cds for 5 bucks. Volume 1 was a mostly instramental album with one freestyle track by me known as "J Soul the Intelect52" at the time or "Clear Lake", a bumpin track called "blurred eye vision" by my brother "no-b.s. allowed" produced and recorded professionally by "Mobius", Fair One's now classic track "2020", a track me and Fair One did together at his place in Richmond called "Jedis" produced by fair. Fair One being a graf head who had just moved into town from winnipeg to attend emily carr art school. Me and ninja met him at club7 when fair got one of the few freestyle circles going at the night there that was called "Context". Ninja had contacted him and brought him buy the pad one day and we automatically began recording. Fair One taught us alot about production and still does. Me, Ninja, and Triad had a track together on the album as well produced by Triad called "thanx"who moved to montreal soon afterwards, whom i would live with for a few months in montreal in the spring of 2003, and there was a track by Alien Ninja called - "life is a sunset (the alien way)" -. We sold roughly 120 copies of this cd and met many important people through the process. Ninja or "Acropuff" who was a constant collaborator thus became motivated to release his cd "RA TA KA JA", which was mostly recorded at Crack Korner. he sold quite a few copies on granville street. Main and Hastings was both the worst and best place i ever lived. Our space was bought by the government to give junkies a safe place to shoot up, my computer moved to E.Broadway near Commercial, new members joined the team but crack korner beat dealaz will live forever. A group beyond a group, hopefully a group without egos. - hi-five
