Silence
|
Sunset
Another precious day
past-- what have I done?
And what is left undone?
So much it seems,
So hard to heed the call.
Shake loose! rust from
the ancient iron ceiling.
Shake loose! the peeling paint from plaster walls.
Shake loose! the cobwebs from forgotten corners,
And sweep the cumulative debris from the wood floor.
In solitude, the call
echoes in my head.
I watch the sun set, having done so little
And pray that there will be another day.
