ANNIS was born in 1809 married Nathaniel Scott in 1831 and went on to have three daughters Alice, Mary and Elizabeth. Elizabeth, in due course married a James Thwaite in 1866.

JOHN PALEY was born in Burton in 1815 and died on May 9th 1898. His wife was a CHARLOTTE CRAGGS who he married in Aukland St Andrew, Durham in 1840 so at some stage, in his early to mid twenties, John had decided to move to pastures new to seek his fortune. In 1881 he was living in Middlestone in Durham and had had nine children born between 1841 and about 1860. One of his middle children was JOHN PALEY b 1851 in Merrington Durham. He became a grocer and draper and produced five of his own children. Nothing more is known, at present, of this line

JANE PALEY was born in 1817 and when she was 20 she married a William Spencer born abt, 1814,who was a blacksmith and tea dealer. Jane died in December 1874 with William outliving her by 13 years. They had ten children, Mary Ann (1838-1914), James (1840), John (1846), Jeremiah (1849) William Paley, Charles Paley, Roger, Joseph, Wilson Paley and Joshua Spencer.

Mary Ann Spencer is believed to have married a man called Brodie.
James Spencer married Ann Scragg and had six children, five boys and one girl. He became a printer in Padiham as did three of his sons (Ernest, Charles and Frederick) In turn, Charles’s sons became printers in Padiham until the following generation followed different careers . John Spencer became a painter and decorater in Burnley whilst his brother Jeremiah took up the trade of Boot and Shoemaker in Padiham, as did Wilson Paley Spencer.
Charles Paley Spencer lived in Barnsley where he was a cabinet maker and undertaker in the late 1800s and Joshua became an insurance agent.
Most of the children of William Spencer and Jane Paley produced offspring, unfortunately too numerous to mention, though some have contributed much information to the Paley data.

John & Charlottes daughter was MARGARET PALEY( b 1814)& she married a George Turnbull in 1833 in Stalling Busk.
And finally, John & Charlotte's last son, ROGER of whom nothing further is known.
