JOHN HEBDEN was born Abt. 1653 and died Abt. 1703 in Pickering, York. He married JANA (JANE) WALKER in 1678 in Pickering. They had one known son, another JAMES who was born in 1680 also in Pickering.
This James died aged 65. His wife was MARIA PARKE and they married in 1703 in, of course, Pickering.

JAMES and MARIA PARKE had seven children :-
ANNA b. 1704, JOHN (1707- 1792), DOROTHY b. 1709, JAMES b. 1712, FRANCIS (1714 - 1752), WILLIAM b. 1716 & GEORGE 1720.

The above JOHN HEBDEN (1707 – 1792) married ELIZABETH LYTHE in 1738 in Pickering.
This couple had six children with, of course, a repetition of the same old names. ELIZABETH b. 1739 married JOHN PARKER & MARY b. 1740 married JOHN READ
There was also a JOHN (1742-abt 1746) and another JOHN born in 1746. CATHERINE was born in 1744 and then there was WILLIAM also born/baptized that year. I have no further details on this William but there is another line of Pickering Hebdens who appear at this time and it is highly likely that their William is the same as this one. WILLIAM of PICKERING.

James & Maria Parke’s son FRANCIS (1714-1752) was born and died in Pickering. His spouse was an ANN. Notes have her surname as HEBDEN though whether she was a cousin or it was a documentary error, I am not sure. Their marriage took place about 1745 in Pickering and they had three children - ELIZABETH(b1746) MARY (b1748) and JAMES b 1751 in Pickering. He married at the age of 21 to a HANNAH DENNIS in 1772. Hannah was also 21 at the time and the daughter of a WILLIAM DENNIS.

This couple went on to have four children. Two were called ANN, born 1780 and 1782 respectively. Of their two sons,JOHN was the youngest, being born in 1785. JAMES was the eldest and probably born in Pickering like his forebears. He lived from 1775 to 1806 and went on to marry an ANN SEAMER of Delpike,1796 in York.
Now here it gets a little curious. There is a documented notation that shows that JAMES HEBDEN, a weaver of St Lawrence, York was witness at the marriage of a FRANCIS HEBDEN & SARAH ROUNDELL of York. This Francis is of the YORK line on this website and as yet the relationship is unclear.

JAMES & ANN GARDNER had 5 children – ANN, JANE, ELLEN, GEORGE & JAMES
ANN was born in 1797 in York and died aged three, JANE was born in 1802 and ELLEN was born in 1804. Of the youngest (JAMES) there is no more known except that he was born posthumously in 1806, so we know that his father died that year and would have been aged 31. GEORGE the eldest son, was born in 1804 and christened at St Lawrence, York. He became a weaver like his father and eventually married a lady called MARGARET HORSEMAN and their descendants these days live in the south of the country.
