Tournament In Hilo
A new tournament and a new format is unleashed on Hilo
by the Hilo Junior Bowling Club.
The big event was coordinated by
the Hilo Junior Bowling Club. It was an enjoyable fundraiser for
the club and a break from the Big Island's usual format of team, singles, then doubles.The participants enjoyed the new format provided by Tournament coordinator Clyde 'choc' Higa. It was a change of pace for the bowlers of Hilo who have been bombarded by the same tournament format for years. No one walked away disappointed. Especially Dennis and Thelma Lee. The tournament winners. They beat the best doubles teams in Hilo and Kona. Seeded second in the stepladder, they beat two teams in a row to capture the title. After winning the tournament, they provided a part of their prize fund to the Hilo Junior Bowling Club as a donation. The Hilo Junior Bowling Club would like to thank all of the participants of the Hilo Junior Bowlers Doubles Matchgame Championships. We would also like to congratulate Dennis and Thelma Lee for their impressive win in the very first doubles match game tournament held in Hilo by the Hilo Junior Bowling Club. Aiea Team Match-Game The annual team match game event held by the Aiea Whiz Kids was a huge success as usual. Junior Bowlers competed as teams of 5 at Aiea Bowl over the Memorial day weekend. The juniors were exceptionally impressive this year as they posted unbelievably high scores. Some notables include Jason Kuromoto from the Aiea Whiz Kids with a 3 game series of 290+220+213=723 and Holly Hoopii of Waialae Strike and Spare Club with 222+199+225=646. |
