Something came up with Linda's move to the Big Island and she could not come along today. I got up at 5:30 a.m. as the drive to Hau`ula on the Windward side is long. Hau`ula has to be about as far from Wai`anae as you can get (time wise) and still be on O`ahu, I'll need over an hour to get there. My plan was to leave at 6:30, but I was slow getting started after last night's party.
I left the 7-11 in Wai`anae about 10 to 7, at least 15 minutes behind sched. The island map below shows my route from Wai`anae on the Leeward side to Hau`ula on the Windward side.
Well, I stopped shy of Hau`ula. We were to meet at Kokololio Beach Park which is about 1/2 way between Hau`ula and Laie. I got rained on three times as I drove from Wahiawa north. But as I rounded Kahuku Point the sky along the shore was clear, only the summit was socked in clouds. The next map show the approx location of the meeting place, Kokololio Beach Park, and the short inland road (which has no name) we took to get to the trail head.
