‘Spicy
Sunrise’ - The Respiratory Health Drink
- This is a drink to sip, and might taste unusual
at first.
- Use the following ingredients to make a
syrup.
- Using a small amount of
this syrup, to tall glass, add plain or flavoured soda water, or
tonic water.
Or try it with coconut water,
orange or pineapple juice.

- Many of the ingredients are known to have beneficial effects on the
lungs.
- This drink can also help thin and loosen any lung congestion you have
as well.
l
- It makes a refreshing, healthy, spicy drink.
- Several of the ingredients are a natural diuretic so it won’t make you
feel bloated.
- It is also a good alcohol substitute.
Blend the following with

cups of water:
l
Garlic crush three or four cloves, about 1 heaped tsp from a jar,
Turmeric - 4 or 5 tsps
or 10 cm of the natural root,
Cayenne pepper - ½
tsp, plus ¼ tsp
of Chilli and/or
Black Pepper,
Ginger -10-12 cms of
ginger root or two heaped teaspoons from a jar,
Thyme, Sage, Oregano - ½ tsp of each.
Cinnamon - 1 tsp,
Honey 4 tbls , (Manuker Honey
if you have it.)
liquorice root 1 tbls (it is also sweet), two
Lemon Juice two lemons - up to a ½ cup,
Dark Muscovado Sugar and 1 tbls of (or Brown Sugar will do).
(Vary to
taste. Some might like more or less of the peppers.)

- Then put the blended ingredients in a pot and
bring to the boil while stirring and then
simmer for a further 10
minutes.

- When it is cool, use a funnel to pour it into a used soda bottle and
store it in the fridge.
- Shake the bottle and then
use a small amount of the
syrup to make your drink at first,
and then increase it to taste.

- You can strain the syrup if you don’t like any residue left in the
bottom of your drink.
