Earthquake devastates Kobe

On the 17th of January 1995 a massive earthquake hit Japan in the city Kobe. The earthquake was  measured with 7.2 magnitude which lasted for a least 20 seconds with aftershocks and was the biggest to hit Japan for 47 years. The hit was mainly hit in Kobe with a population of 1.5 million people. Whole buildings, apartment blocks and an elevated highway collapsed on 13200 people and killing at least 200 people and injuring some 13 000. This terrifying disaster shocked many people and terrified them of what nature did to their city.
