Test Website |
|
hosted on webng.com |
|
If you are able to open this website at
school, it means your school does not block individual web
hosting sites such as
webng.com
This means if you
upload your webite to webng.com
so it can be viewed on the
w.w.w.,
then you will also be able to open your website at school.
Many sites on the w.w.w. can
provide free interesting textured and coloured backgrounds you can
use. For example:http://www.grsites.com/archive/textures/
- To SAVE the textured background pictures: right-click
on the picture and select "Save Picture As" or "Save Image As"
to your web site folder.
Other sites can provide sound effects files
http://www.grsites.com/archive/sounds/ and
http://www.wavsource.com/
or gif. animated images, for example:
http://madsenworld.dk/index-uk.htm
or for music files:
http://www.mediacollege.com/downloads/sound-effects/

How can you avoid this?: "
It's hard to
read the text I typed on my webpage, because of the coloured
background I used! ":-(
|
How to put text over a dark or busy background
so you can still read
the text:
Make a small table just for your text.
Insert a table with 1 row and 1 column into one
of the cells (squares) of a larger table on your webpage.
Then put a lighter coloured background in
this table you are making for your text.
How? Right mouse click, select 'Table Properties', then
select a background of a plain colour or a picture, like
this picture of canvas from our collection of
backgrounds .
How do you make your table go to the center of your
page? Right mouse click, select 'Table Properties', then
select your 'Layout' 'Alignment' to be 'Center'.
With a table inserted for text like this, you will be
able to read your text, even if your whole page
background is a dark and stormy ocean!
How do you make you text stay away from the edge of your
text table? Right mouse click, select 'Table
Properties', then select your 'Cell padding' to be about
20.
How do you make the dark line around the edge of your
text table? Right mouse click, select 'Table
Properties', then select 'Borders', and change the size
and colour. |
