amphigory (AM-fi-gor-ee) noun, also amphigouri. A nonsensical piece of writing, usually in verse form, typically composed as a parody. [From French amphigouri.]

Who knew there was a single word to describe Weird Al Yankovic's entire career?

Remember these childhood favorites? My memory grows ever more feeble the farther I get from grade school. All you teachers out there, get your students to help me fill in the blanks.

"Jingle bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg.
Joker stole the Batmobile and then he got away — hey!"

"Happy birthday to you.
You live in a zoo.
You look like a monkey
and smell like one, too."

"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the burning of the school.
We have tortured all the teachers, we have broken every rule."
. . . What comes next?

"This land ain't your land,
This land is my land."
. . . something about "I got a shotgun/And you ain't got one . . . this land is private property."

Got any more?
