Infliximab

Brought to you by Centocor, makers of REMICADE. REMICADE is the brand name and infliximab the generic name of a drug recently approved for treatment of Crohn's disease (an inflammatory bowel disease). Centocor is the company that manufactures the drug.

I just can't get my head around the word "infliximab." At first it seemed like it might be a different, more familiar word spelled backward, but "bamixilfni" doesn't ring any bells, either. Now it's more of a science-fiction word to me. Perhaps Centocor is a group of militant centaurs, part of the larger Remicade army, and infliximab is fuel that powers their weapons. Or something. On a humid Friday, surrounded by the latest news from the world of medicine, this is the best I can do.
