After his football career ended, Mr. Bradshaw took several endorsement jobs, including one for a toupee. The manufacturer made several very lifelike models of his head, sporting their hairpiece, and sent them to various parties for review. One of the recipients was Bradshaw himself. He was staying with his parents at the time, so when the package arrived at their house, they opened it with no inkling of what might be inside. (This was a couple decades ago, pre-powdery-white-substance caution.) And Bradshaw heard his bemused father call, "Come here, Ma! They've sent us Terry's head in a box!"
So what's the oddest thing you ever got in the mail? When I was a starving college student, Mother Media once sent me a package of homemade cookie dough, which I took to a friend's apartment to bake. It was winter at the time, and since the mail was apparently transported in a low-temperature environment, the dough traveled just fine. The package sure was squishy, though.
Happy New Year!
