In her Hawaiian travels, Granny looked up Franklyn Esser, the son of George Esser, who was a brother to my great-grandpa Bertram J. Esser. That makes Frank Granny Gump's 1st cousin. Frank went away to World War II and was stationed in Hawaii (as was my grandpa Wiemholt) for a while. Granny hasn't seen Frank since he left for war duty, somewhere in the neighborhood of 58 - 60 years ago.
He met a young woman on the island and married her. He remained on the island. She passed away but I don't know how long ago, or if he had children. He now has a lady friend whom Granny Gump and Charlie and Billy & Jack visited. She used to skate with Sonja Heine.
