On the long, desolate drive between Moorhead, MN and Belle Fourche, SD, there's a little-known stretch of byway known as the Enchanted Highway. The hand-lettered signage indicates the homey nature of this project, undertaken by a retired teacher who wanted to get away from it all. He's created several metal sculptures that line the road, including the
Geese in Flight and the
Grasshopper Family . . . and that's about it.
Lindsay and Jeff took a little detour to check things out on their way to Mom's house for Christmas. It's no Wall Drug, but in the middle of North Dakota, you take what you can get.
