Let's look at how we can determine the
"steepness" of something sloped. Take any sloped surface lay down a grid and pick two clear points along that surface.
Slope is the ratio of the vertical height to the horizontal length. Count in an L shape, from point to point, first vertically (up/down) and then horizontally (left/right). This is your Slope, but it is always written as a fraction:
