CD-RW Disks

The first disks I bought were Nashua 700MB, 80 Minute, 4-16x from pcnextday. These work fine.

I've just bought some Maxell 700MB, 80 minute, 1-2 & 4x from Wilkinson.
These don't work very well on my system.
This may be the much lower speed of the disks, or that I use InCD.

Creating an Excelstor Test Floppy

You can get a piece of software from Excelstor that tests their hard disks.

To create the floppy from what they send, I did the following.

Copy Excelstor files to my DOS partition
These were: estest.cfg, estest.exe & estest.txt
Boot into the DOS partition
Write the files to a floppy with:

rawrite drdos.img a:
copy *.* a:

Boot from the floppy
estest /R /D:P1 /F:N

where

/R = Read only
/D:p1 = disk primary, master
/F:N = don't fix

1 = slave
P = Primary controller

P0 = Maxtor
P1 = Excelstor

Drive mode U5 = UDMA, mode5 = 100MB/s

Result: SN = VNVB04E2086W9A, passed all test.
