Updating GA-7NNXPV BIOS

BEWARE – CAN DESTROY YOUR MOTHERBOARD
Read Gigabyte instructions first. This is what I did.
1. Goto http://uk.giga-byte.com
2. Select support.motherboard.bios and GA-7NNXPV
3. Download bios_7nnxpv_f7.exe to D:\Downloaded Apps\Gigabyte
4. Run it putting extracted files into folder bios_f7
5. Copy 7nnxpv.f7 to A:
6. Put floppy in (no write protect), boot machine & go into BIOS with DEL
7. Go to advanced mode with ctrl-F1
8. Goto “Advanced BIOS features” and set BIOS protection to auto
9. Enter q-flash with F8
10. Cursor to “Save main BIOS to floppy”, press enter, 7nnxpv.f4, enter
11. Cursor to “Update main BIOS from floppy”, select 7nnxpv.f7
12. Get checksum = B9DF
13. Exit q-flash with esc, return
14. Re-enter BIOS with DEL
15. Select “Load fail-safe defaults” or check all the settings. It's easier to do the latter !
16. Setup BIOS with after ctrl-F1 to list all options:

“Advanced BIOS features”:

HDD SMART
OnBoard/AGP

“Advanced chipset features”:

FSB freq = 133MHz

“Integrated peripherals”:

Primary master UDMA = AUTO
Primary slave UDMA = AUTO
Secondary master UDMA = AUTO
Secondary slave UDMA = AUTO
serial ATA = disable
h/w RAID = disable/enable depending on whether you use it !

“PC health status”:

CPU temp = 70 (for BIOS ver F7)
CPU fan = enable
system fan = enable
