4G15 Stage 2

cutaway of the Mitsubishi 4G15"

Single overhead cam 12-valve. This engine found its way into the 1993 Mitsubishi Lancer as well as the 1991 Hyundai Excel (Mitsubishi engines manufactured under license by Hyundai Motors in Korea). Later on, this engine was somewhat "detuned" as a carb-only 4G15 for the 1996 Lancer GL, the "i" suffix being deleted due to an absence of electronic fuel injection. Original factory output was at 90hp/6000 rpm.

More on the Stage II 4G15

Stage 1 would always mean basics but with the Stage 2 setup, it would always necessitate major engine work in order to accommodate the mods the engine was intended for.

My experience with the 15 culminated in two different engine specs for a couple of my buddies who required "a little extra bit of power". A lack of torque was to blame as well as an inability to wind it up in the high range of revs. However, this 4G15 will definitely make a difference with cutting-edge ideas for the internals as well as the combustion chamber which has been "massaged". Wait and see what this car can do as soon as break-in is done!

Here's my simple formula for the 4G15...

Cold-air intake + dome filter with venturi + tri-y headers + downpipe. Add these to a reworked throttle setting/fuel delivery as well as a total engine upgrade to Stage 2 specs.

No NOS. No bullshit. And no "expensive" parts from Japan or the U.S. All it takes is some hard work and ingenuity in this engine. WYSIWYG! 4G15 with 4G91 (GLXi) characteristics as well as road-scorching performance. Will it be enough to beat the newer engines on the street? I believe so...

George Gadia's '94 Lancer GLi... ready for the next level of performance!

This car now sports an improved aesthetic package to match the "hyped-up" powerplant. Coming soon to a crazy-ass street near you.
