sites:
the onion - a satirical 'newspaper'
booknotes sites: pinkmonkey , sparknotes & bookrags - unlike Jon White who says he's never read a single cliff note, this is the stuff the rest of us live off of...
addall - one of the most amazing inventions ever. search this site when you're buying books, it finds the cheapest out of all the online sites
solution manual to calc - its importance is self-explanatory
magazines:Jane - is arguably the best magazine ever! it's know as the magazine for ... wait actually I don't want to tell you, but trust me it's good. no icing, well-written, and extremely entertaining... here's their site, but there's not much on it.
ON i am so sad that they discontinued this one. it was a submag of TIME, computers & tech stuff but more about the newest gadgets and not so technical.
National Geographic - this one sounds kinda dorky, but it's soo much fun. they have such amazing photographs and the articles are really interesting too. here's the site in case you're interested.
tv shows:Gilmore Girls - one of the two shows that i watch religiously. it's so adorable. i love how witty lorelai is. i remember once when rach & i were at a jr. phil rehearsal and we saw a sign that said 'gilmore girls extras --->' we got really excited...
Alias - the other amazing show. sydney is so cool. i don't think i've missed a single episode. thank god for the vcr. tivo would help a lot though... the best thing however, was when michael vartan (aka michael vaughn) came into my coffee bean...
Friends - doesn't feel like it's getting better, but it will always be a classic (and since i'm thinking of this, matthew perry & david schwimmer have also come to my coffee bean)
I Love Lucy - this was my first favorite show
movies:
The Shinning the Kubrick version is so phenomenal. the book doesn't even compare! see other Kubrick films too - Full Metal Jacket, Clockwork Orange, etc.
Lord of the Rings i can't wait until december 14th when the second one comes out! somehow i can't get through the books but i absolutely fell in love with this movie. it has everything you'd ever want in a story- fantasy, adventure, action, romance. being the dork i am, i even have a poster of the movie in my room.
Stir of Echos a smaller flick that most people missed. i really enjoyed it when i watched it.
The Ring i saw this recently at Oberlin. the idea of a videotape being able to kill sounds ridiculous but they pulled this one off really well. i especially like the twisted ending.
Momento the concept of this movie is amazing. it's really well directed and thought out.
Happy Gilmore my first Adam Sandler movie. a classic.
music:
Red Hot Chili Peppers one of the best bands ever! i got to play with FLEA when he came to our Jr. Phil concert.
Eve 6 yay
cumbia is an awesome type of music/dance popular in Costa Rica. it's a lot of fun, and it's great too how all those latin boys know how to shake it too.

AFS (American Field Service)- this is how i went to Costa Rica this past summer. they have some pretty good scholarships so it can turn out to be not too expensive. also check the site out if you might want to host a student. also here's the local afs site AFS Edge . i think they're going to post some of my pictures...
completely useless facts
only in america will you find...
things i love that don't have links:
MAHJONGG- the coolest game ever. it's the ancient chinese one with the tiles and such. you play it like cards, but it's soo much better. it's a lot easier to learn in person than online, but if you want to give it a shot go to yahoo games for some pretty good live games. (oops so much for no links...)
WINTER- what more can i say? i love going into department stores and hearing holiday songs and singing along. i love gift giving and gift getting. i love being bundled up with a cup of hot vanilla. i miss snow too. hopefully next year i'll be somewhere where i'll have as much snow as my heart desires.
THIS BUDDY ICON- i think i was just in a really good mood when i first saw it, but i think it's the cutest thing ever watch it flap its arms/wing-things. aww!
