Check out some of the kewl things we have planned for the year! These activities are planned in addition to our normal monthly meetings.

Parents, we are planning to attend these activities as a troop. If your daughter would like to attend additional Girl Scout events, she can register as an individual. A complete list of Cedar Valley Girl Scouts events is here. Feel free to make your own reservations.

Hartman Reserve Halloween Hike
Friday, October 28
6:10 – 9:00
Hartman Nature Reserve Center
$5 per person

Guided hikes along lighted trails to see animal characters acting out a story. This is a non-scary educational hike. Treats are included after the hike.

Scouts for the Arts: The Nutcracker Ballet
Saturday, November 19
1:15 pm - 4:15; Showtime 2 pm
Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at UNI
$1 per girl; $24 per adult
Meet at the St. Edward parking lot for transportation.

Join us for this holiday tradition featuring the Minnesota Ballet and the children of the Cedar Valley. Tchaikovsky's holiday classic visits the Gallagher-Bluedorn to entertain and delight the whole family. This enchanting ballet, complete with elaborate costumes, sets, and dancing will offer all of the magic needed to bring alive this holiday season.

Victorian Holiday Traditions
Saturday, December 3
1 – 4 pm
Russell House Museum, 520 West 3rd St.
$10 per girl; $6 per adult
Meet at the Russell House Museum.

Tour the Russell House Museum decorated in its holiday splendor. Learn the history behind the Christmas tree, Christmas cards, and other holiday traditions. Enjoy a Victorian snack and make several Christmas gifts. Brownies will work on the "Listening to the Past" Try-It.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day
Thursday, February 2
5:30 - 8:30pm
UNI-Dome
Cost: $1

Come celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day with the UNI Lady Panthers. Girls will try out a variety of sports and meet several female athletes. Girls can learn about softball, golf, volleyball, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field, rugby, cheer and dance.

Princess for a Day Workshop
Wednesday, March 15
9am - 2pm
Central Middle School
$5 per girl

Come join other princesses for a day of activities that includes decorating a crown and magic want, making lipgloss and body glitter, games and so much more. Brownies will earn the “Let’s Pretend” Try-It. Please bring a sack lunch. Girls can use up to $2.50 that was earned from cookies sales.

Saturday, April 22

Usher's Ferry Historic Village, Cedar Rapids
$15 per girl

Learn about Laura Ingalls Wilder's life. You will attend a presentation before lunch and participate in workshops following lunch.

Waterloo Center for the Arts
$7 per girl
Bring a sack lunch and beverage

Learn about architects and what they do; learn about shapes and the strength they have; build a tent; a bridge and some yummy structures you can eat.
