There Is No Dawn

The winter's fire, the summer's ice;
My soul is filled with darkness wan.
I know I cannot pay the price,
And for me, there is no dawn.

A lover's hate, a sinner's faith;
You cannot see to carry on.
Desperation fears the wraith,
And for you, there is no dawn.

A lie that's truth, the truth that lies;
The music from the lute strings drawn.
Sorrowing wind around me cries,
And for me, there is no dawn.

The honest thief, a life that kills;
In your own game you've been a pawn.
The mourning flute, her silent trills,
And for you, there is no dawn.

The dark that glows, the light that blinds;
Lost innocence, the faith is gone.
We two, in questing ne'er to find,
For our hearts, there is no dawn . . .
