Rizal Park

Rizal Park forms the lungs of Manila, with shady lawns, ponds and monuments to almost every Filipino hero you care to mention. On evenings and weekends, hundreds of Filipinos gather to listen to music, stroll, watch chess or relax away from all the traffic. Intramuros, The North Port (and a bit beyond them, Balut) are to the North of Rizal Park. Emrita and Malate are just to the south.

This monument is dedicated to the Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, who was executed by the Spanish on 30 December 1896 for inciting revolution.
