CELES LEE A.K.A S-TYPE---- As a hungry MC from the streets of Philadelphia, S-Type has now come into view. Celes Lee was born in the Richard Allen Projects of North Philadelphia. Celes was inspired to do music out of sheer boredom, a claim she freely admits. “I was about thirteen when I wanted to do music” says Celes. She began writing short poems and recited them back to herself with a melody. Celes realized she had this gift and embellished on it. Celes says her brother also inspired her a great deal in the development of who is now S-Type. S-Type has worked with many people in the genre which include Dirty Schully Productions, Push point Entertainment and Big Bloc Entertainment. She has been a featured performer at DC Live as a member of the all female clique Mafia Queens. She has performed at Roebucks Night Club at the CCT record release party and under the moniker Lady Assassin, she was a featured artists at Club Lil Rascals. S-Type became part of the Damage through her nephew Terrell. He put the Indikator in touch with her and she ripped a rhyme for him over the phone. She was brought in immediately. She has since worked with producers Sean Carey and Soul XTC and artists Indikator and Black Majic. “S-Type has been exactly what the Damage needed...a spit fire MC that raises everyone else's lyrical level” says Indikator. S-Type asserts she always had something to write about where her lyrics were concerned. She states “everyone's story is different, but in many respects they are very similar”. She says music is about life and “if it's not that interesting you embellish a little”. “My music is about my life, whether it was really me or someone I know” maintains S-Type. She says she could name names of people on TV who gave her different kinds of inspiration, but it wouldn't be the truth. Now that's real rap.
