the views expressed are those of the webmistress and should not be taken as a guarantee that the particular shoe is right for your foot. the first pair of pointe shoes should only be bought on recommendation of an instructor's examination so as to not damage growing bones. when switching brands or styles, always have the shoes professionally fitted by a reputable dealer
Sansha Recital | This was my first pair of pointe shoes. I have really strong feet/ankles but not much of an arch, so these were too supportive for me. They came with shank re-enforcers but I never even got the redboard shank broken in enough before they wore out! Of course, they were my first pair and so I didn't know what I was doing, really.
Gamba 93 | I love these shoes! I have really wide metatarsals and the box of these were perfect for me. They have a carbon-fiber shank that lasts and lasts.. I have danced Nutcracker, Snow White, and all the classes and rehearsals for a year in them. GREAT shoes.
Capezio Plie II | I just purchased these. They have your run-of-the-mill paper/canvas interior (previously I'd only had redboard and carbon-fiber, so I've never experienced a 'normal' shank) They seem lighter than my Gamba's but I won't be wearing them until next Nutcracker. (I like a shiny new pair for solo parts) I'll update my comments then. |
