Patty, why?

Oh the woes of the Kennedy clan.

So at 3am this morning (Thursday May 4th), Rep. Patrick Kennedy, son of everyone's favorite Jabba The Hutt look-alike, Sen. Edward (Teddy) Kennedy, decided it would be a good idea to crash his car into a road barrier on Capital Hill.

Shadiness ensued.

The original policemen on the scene said that young Patty "appeared intoxicated" as he stumbled away from the accident. Naturally, the Democratic representative from the great state of Rhode Island insisted "I consumed no alcohol prior to the incident", adding what I'm sure was a very sincere "I will fully cooperate with the Capitol Police in whatever investigation they choose to undertake".

Mhmm.

Remember, oh i dunno, about 37 years or so ago when your daddy drove his car into a river killing a girl named Mary Jo and then went home and got a good night sleep before waking up the next morning and thinking, "Oh, hey, maybe I should call the cops and tell them that I killed someone". In Teddy's defense, he admitted to the public that at the time he was confused "by a jumble of emotions" and that he was most certainly not intoxicated at the time.

I certainly feel better now.

So flash forward to this morning and it looks like the apple hasn't fallen very far from the tree, so to speak. A higher ranking police officer arrived on the scene and dismissed to two patrolmen who had first discovered the accident. He then proceeded to conduct no tests for sobriety or B.A.C. and kindly offered Mr. Kennedy a ride home.

So let's see...I was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to 182 days in jail, served 9 of them, and am now serving a year's worth of probation.

Collectively the Kennedy family has now most likely driven while intoxicated twice, destroyed two cars, killed one secretary who was probably helping out at home as well as in the office (if you know what I mean), and they have collectively been sentenced to 60 days of suspended jail time.

God Bless America.

Our parents grew up in a time when the Kennedy's were a national icon of Democracy and the social elite. I'm proud to be privelaged enough to grow up in a time when the Kennedy's have become a national symbol of alcoholism and abuse of power.

As the saying goes, I'd still trust Dick Cheney with a gun before I'd trust a Kennedy with a car.

Amen brother. A-fucking-men.
