Gangsta Boo Finds God

From SOHH.com. Every now and then a rapper will clean up their act in an effort to repent of their sins and get in good with God. The same has happened to female emcee Gangsta Boo. Now changing her recording name to Lady Boo, the rapper is now declaring that she is saved. According to GoMemphis.Com, Boo showed up at Refuge, a Christian club in Memphis and made the announcement with Mr. Del formerly of Three Six Mafia who also turned in his mic for a Bible. "I'm not trying to be a nun, I'm just here praising God. I'm trying to get to heaven too," Boo told the young crowd. "I'm not necessarily going to be a gospel rapper, but I'm cleaning up my image - a lot." Currently, Boo's very un-Christian like album Both Worlds *69 is in stores now. Capone Arrested

From SOHH.com. Rapper Capone and two of his associates were arrested early Friday morning (September 7) following a scuffle at a Queens, New York, nightclub. One member of Capone's crew was wounded. Two officers responding to a dispute involving a firearm at Club Juan Pachanga arrived at 3:45 a.m. and encountered Capone (born Kiam Holley), Marion Jefferson and Mesiah Watson, who were leaving the club, according to a police spokesperson. One of the officers, believing one of the men was carrying a gun, fired two shots, which missed the suspects, the spokesperson said. The three men fled in a black Mercedes-Benz. The car was involved in a minor accident with a truck shortly after its departure, according to the police report. Authorities caught up with the vehicle a few blocks later and found Jefferson with a superficial neck wound that "could have been the result of bullet fragmentation," the spokesperson said. The rapper tells a different story. Capone said he and his friends were invited to the club, where they were attacked by a group of patrons, according to his publicist. They attempted to escape by driving away and their vehicle was fired upon by police arriving at the scene. Witnesses at the club told police that Capone, half of rap duo Capone-N-Noreaga, and his friends were carrying guns, though no weapons were recovered from their vehicle. Capone and Watson were immediately taken into custody, while Jefferson was treated at Long Island College Hospital before also being arrested. Capone and Jefferson were charged with assault in the second degree, an offense defined as the intent to cause physical injury with a deadly weapon, according to the Queens County District Attorney's office, a charge that carries a minimum sentence of two to four years. Watson was charged with possession of marijuana. Police said they recovered a loaded .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun at the club. Neither Capone nor his associates were charged with possessing it. While police didn't disclose further details of the case, the New York Daily News, citing a law-enforcement source, reported that the incident began when a club bouncer attempted to remove the .380-caliber gun from Capone. The ensuing fight left the club employee with a broken arm, according to the paper. Capone and Jefferson were released Friday afternoon on $15,000 and $7,500 bail, respectively. The two are scheduled to face the charges in court October 11. Gunplay isn't new to Capone. The rapper spent 27 months at the Wyoming Correctional Facility in Attica, New York, for weapons possession before his February 1999 release.

New Blueprint Street Date

THE BLUEPRINT WILL BE OFFICIALLY RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 11TH

Due to overwhelming demand by consumers and retailers alike, Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella Records have officially announced that Jay's sixth album, THE BLUEPRINT, will be released two (2) weeks earlier on September 11th. Originally scheduled for release on September 25th and then September 18th, this date change is an unprecedented move for any recording artist and a testament to Jay-Z's popularity.

Demand began when he premiered the lead single "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)" on the BET Awards in June. Excitement was then heightened when he brought the "King Of Pop", Michael Jackson on stage at Nassau Coliseum during the WQHT Hot 97 Summer Jam in New York. Since those appearances and the debut of the video for "Izzo(HOVA)" consumers have been flooding both independent and chain retailers requesting Jay-Z's upcoming release.

THE BLUEPRINT, which Jay-Z describes as his most "soulful" album, features production by Just Blaze ("Song Cry"), Kanye West ("Izzo (H.O.V.A.)"), Timbaland ("Hola Hovito"), Poke & Tone ("Jigga That N*****"), Bink ("Blueprint") and Eminem, who also appears on the song "Renegade".

In support of THE BLUEPRINT, Jay-Z will embark on a nationwide theatre tour beginning on September 14th in Columbus, OH. The video for the next single, "Girls, Girls, Girls," will be shot shortly in Los Angeles. Upcoming television appearances include MTV's Video Music Awards and "THE BLUEPRINT" special on BET.

In 1995, with the release of his debut album, Resonable Doubt, Jay-Z established himself as one hip-hop's most respected lyricists. Since then, Jay-Z has released Vol. 1...In My Lifetime, Vol. 2 - Hard Knock Life, Vol. 3...Life And Times of S. Carter and The Dynasty and has sold more than 15 million albums. He has been the recipient of 2 Grammy Awards (Best Rap Album - Vol. 3# - Life And Times of S.Carter and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, "Big Pimpin") as well as an MTV Video Music Award. Just this year he received BET's "Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Soul Train's 2001 Sammy Davis Jr. Entertainer Of The Year Award and the 2001 Source Award for Best Hip Hop Artist, Solo.
