The first time I saw the video for current Swollen Members' single, "Fuel Injected," I had the television on mute. Thus, I was pleasantly (and erroneously) surprised to find that Mad Child and Prevail had done a duet with that lovable Jay Kay from Jamiroquai.
Granted, when the TV became un-muted, it was clear that whoever was sharing the screen with the Members was clearly not the Kooky Hatted One, but another artist altogether. Still, the juxtaposition of Moka Only's unmistakably unique voice along with the MC’s lines and beats worked. Seeing them perform together was exciting. Not as exciting as the scorpion girl in the "Lady Venom" video, but exciting nonetheless.
For others intrigued by the collaboration between the Members and the Moka, you'll get your chance to check out both live as the Battle Axe Warriors Tour gets underway next month. Yep, we had already told you that Vancouver's two favourite sons were going to be opening in April for Nelly Furtado, but now it has also been confirmed that the DIY hip hoppers are taking their label-mates out on the road.
Beginning with a March 6 show in the nation's capital, the Battle Axe Warriors Tour will highlight the abilities of the swollen label's members: Moka, Mad Child, Prevail and peers DJ Murge, Abstract Rude, Code Name Scorpion.

In other Swollen news, the duo are currently up for a West Coast Music award in the Best Urban Release category and are also vying for a Best Rap Recording Juno for their Bad Dreams album. If they win the latter, let's hope they don't inadvertently steal Mike Bullard's car stereo in the course of the night's celebrations.
