It's about time.
After scads of songs credited to "Swollen Members Featuring Moka Only," Moka has decided to become a full time member of the Vancouver-based hip-hop group. DJ Rob The Viking has also taken on official SM status, turning the dynamic duo into a kickin' quartet.
"These two are now an official part of Swollen Members," says Swollen Members' Mad Child. "We're basically like family — it was a natural progression."
But that doesn't mean that you won't see Swollen Member Featuring… on their CD jackets anymore. The crew will release a new CD, called Monsters In The Closet, on September 24 that's chock-full of big time guests. Contributing artists include Saukrates and the new queen of high-profile collaborations, long-time SM pal Nelly Furtado.
A new CD so soon after Bad Dreams? Well, to be fair it's not a proper album, rather Monsters… is a collection of new singles plus unreleased tracks and remixes. Are they cashing in on the success of Bad Dreams? Damn straight — but with the demand for their music (Bad Dreams has already gone platinum), you can't blame them.
SM, who cleaned house at this spring's MuchMusic Video Awards, have also shot a new video for Monsters… first single, "Stepping Thru." Look for it on the nation's music stations in September.
