Swollen Members get the Todd McFarlane Treatment

By ChartAttack.com Staff (Actual Writer not Specified)

Will this be Swollen Members' big break in the U.S.? Maybe… just maybe.

Our favourite Canadian hip-hop duo turned quartet have employed the services of one Todd McFarlane to direct their new video. McFarlane, who's best known as the creator of Spawn, will head up SM's new "Breath" video. "Breath," which comes from Swollen Members' latest disc, Monsters In The Closet, also features the vocal prowess of fellow B.C. hipster, Nelly Furtado.

This, of course, isn't McFarlane's first foray into the art of the music video. In addition to Spawn and his fine line of action figures (our favourite are the Iron Maiden "Eddie" toys), McFarlane has famously put together the award-winning Pearl Jam "Do The Evolution" and Korn "Freak On A Leash" videos. There's no telling what the "Breath" vid will be like, but with McFarlane at the helm, we're hoping there'll be at least a little bit of his trademark animation.

"I'm a huge fan of his comic books and I collect his toys, so we're very excited about being able to make a video with Todd McFarlane," SM's Mad Child said.

"It's a great honor to be able to work with him," Prevail chipped in. "He is the one who inspired me to get into comic books in the first place. He is a very talented visual artist and we're very excited to see what we can do together."

No kidding, Prevail. Prev, Mad Child, Moka Only, Rob The Viking and Nelly Furtado will shoot the video with McFarlane in the next few weeks. Look for it on the nation's music stations in January, 2003.
