Hip hop has always been an independant business. From the start, hip hop has been looked at as an underground type of art. Only now has it hit the mainstream. Hip hop has hit a cycle that will continue to evolve as long as the artists let it. The cycle is subpar lyricism with a focus on more pop elements such as killer choruses, catchy beats and gimmicks. We are losing the art and most people don't even realize it. The artists are blinded by the cheese, and the people are being force fed this commercial garbage. But there is hope. The underground is still alive and real hiphop is still being created. To quote a line from "Poet Laurette", " Word of mouth is good, but a mouth full of words is better..."
The Movement is an alliance of the illest mc's in on the underground scene. It's the beginning of something pure for hip-hop.
