Card Weaving

My first band, woven from perle 8 cotton. It became the ties for the machine-quilted cover of my Chicago Manual of Style.

Inkle Weaving

I bought a used inkle loom from my weaver friend in Jerusalem, Stella Sapir, and have been playing with it.
Inkle band 1My first attempt.

Inkle band 2Second attempt. Selvedges are getting better!

Inkle band 3Binyamin's band. My 6 year old son requested his own and he chose the red, purple and green. I had some black left over on the shuttle and used that as the weft.

Inkle band 4I wove this out of some of my beginner handspun. I learned an important lesson: fluffy uneven yarn makes lousy warp. I had to rip the strands apart for every shed. Although I could have sized the warp, since it was only 5 feet long I just gritted my teeth and yanked while weaving.
