Healing Alternatives: Ask Pam

Natural Treatment Options for Bipolar Vegan?

01-12-05
Dear Pam,

Q. I have bipolar and ADD and I am on meds but i have some issues with it. i am an animal rights activist, im vegan, and i am very against animal testing but i am almost positive that my meds were tested on animals and that the company still tests. i cant support that but i also feel much better on my meds. i was very suicidal and i was hospitalized 6 times and went to residential for a year. i was addicted to drugs, i was bulimic, and i cut myself. so needles to say i wasn't doing very well. but recently i got clean, stopped cutting, and haven't purged in almost 2 months. so...here is my problem i cant support animal testing plus i think herbal meds would be much healthier. im pagan and i have recently been learning about herbs for spiritual purposes and i was thinking that maybe this is an alternative. im so confused about it all. i want advice on how effective these herbal meds are. thank you.
