Healing Alternatives: Ask Pam

Amino Acid Interactions

3-11-04
Dear Pam,

Q. What if you are on an anti-depressant for depression/anxiety? Can you still take some of the amino acids?

A. Well, that’s a really good question. Not knowing precisely what meds you are on or which aminos you are planning on taking, it is a bit difficult to answer. I would advise you to do a google search of each med together with each amino to be extra-sure, but hopefully this will start you out. Most of this information is from http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/health/Supp/Amino_Acids.htm.

Take some time to browse through and find exactly what the interactions are for any of these. Here are the amino acids or precursors that I could find interactions for, followed by the drugs that are contraindicated.
