Rear Garden

In terms of feng shui, it is extremely important to have tall plants at the rear of the house.  This provides the residence more protection, support and stability.  The tortoise paver creation was also a feng shui feature as well.

The most difficult part of this garden was the building of retaining wall made of treated pine sleepers.  This was because the sleepers bent slightly.  To make it look good, we had to render certain parts of the sleepers.  They were then painted and decorative with red decorative architraves.  As this garden bed was located next to the metal colourbond fence, we used white foam in many parts of the garden bed.  They were then covered up with a layer of black weed mat.  Concrete garden ornaments were used to decorate the garden beds.

A red hibiscus and a protea were planted on the triangular part of the garden bed.   The ground cover soil used was 8mm red volcanic scoria.

The step pavers leads to the cloth line garden and the rear part of the property.
